Yoga and Fitness Classes

Please double check the CLASS SCHEDULE  page for  current events, yoga and other classes. Class times and workshops/events, as well as any cancellations, will appear there. All classes are appropriate for all levels. However, please read the class descriptions to find which class resonates with your personal taste.

GROUP CLASSES

In Vibrant Living Wellness classes, you get great exercise and more. In addition to our focus on physical and mental practices that build health, reduce stress and retard the aging process, we provide the  resources, support, and environment for you to increase your capacity for self-discovery and attunement. Coming together with like minded people in the spirit of yoga creates a group energy that allows for deeper absorption into the practice. Each class ia a complete experience, including centering, warm-ups, yoga postures, breath work, relaxation and integration.

MInd/Body Classes

The guided flows of warm ups, postures, and breathing techniques below give students of all levels the opportunity to larn and clarify details, add new postures to their repertoire, and take their practice to deeper levels. With the increased awareness that comes through practice, you’ll begin to understand and respond to the needs of your body and observe your mind and behaviors with more clarity. Each class offers a unique experience of yoga.

 

Mind/Body classes are offered at various levels of intensity and intention:
Beginner – basic practice of foundational postures & breathing techniques
Gentle – easy and relaxing

All Levels – easy to challenging with modifications & variations for any level of practice

 

Kripalu Yoga: A flow of postures with emphasis on body awareness, alignment and coordination of breath and movement. Students are encouraged to practice at their own level, using variations and modifications to give postures more less challenge. classes may be enhanced by music, rhythms, and inspirational readings to promote meditative awareness.

Vinyasa Flow: A powerful flow of hatha yoga postures, linked through a series of connecting movement (vinyasa) synchronized with smooth, deep breathing (uijaya), gaze (dristi) and locks (bandhas).

Yin Yoga: This slow, deeply meditative yet revitalizing practice targets the hips and spine, and helps to release and lengthen the body’s deep connective tissue through passive stretching. Longer held postures combined with yogic breathing can also release energy blockages in the physical and emotional bodies.

Xen Strength: Not your everyday yoga class! Xen Strength combines hand weights and functional fitness moves with traditional yoga poses to provide a transformational workout. You’ll build muscle and bone mass to prevent injury, and get flexible in body and mind. Plus, you’ll save time by multi-tasking

Morning Yoga: What better way to start your day than with a morning yoga class. A bit more energizing, this class incorporates more of a flow and gets you ready to face the day. Appropriate for all levels. Modifications available for all poses. This class will end no later than 7:45 for those of us having to be at work at 8. If you would like to attend but need to slip out a few minutes early, please don’t hesitate to join us.

TaiChi Qigong: Learn the graceful moving meditation and revitalizing breath work of this traditional Chinese yoga. Experience how qi (prana) is generated and circulated to promote healing and longevity. Discover how the principles of relaxation, balance, and alignment can improve your yoga practice. Instruction includes a standing qigong sequence for self-healing as well as various  tai chi forms.

Fitness Classes

Boot Camp for Every BODY: This ongoing boot camp style class is designed with the average person in mind. Combines HIIT,  strength training, cardio, and stretching. Modifications offered if needed.4 Week Bootcamp Package available.

BOOM Muscle: Up your game in this fast paced strength training class designed to build endurance and tone muscles in a convenient 30 minute workout.

BOOM MInd: Improve range of motion, balance and flexibility in this Yoga/Pilates-fusion class. Learn techniques to relax your mind and engage your muscles.

Step Pump: Using a step platform, this class begins with an aerobic warmup and basic step movements and progresses into more creative movements on, over, and around the platform. The class includes a combination of cardio moves using the platform and strength/endurance work. The best of cardio and muscle conditioning in one workout

Shimmy Chic: Shimmy into shape with this belly dance fitness class. This cardio dance class offers a fun and energetic  calorie burning aerobic workout that is high cardio but low impact and easy on the knees. Dance to fast-paced Middle Eastern and modern songs. The class focuses on weight loss, muscle toning, and calorie burning. Also, a great way to drill and practice belly dance moves. New routines are introduced periodically and as you learn actual belly dance combinations, your whole body will receive a great workout. So wear your sweats, a coin belt, and bring your friends. What is Yoga?

Yoga means “Union” or “to Join”. It is an ancient form. Yoga is a way of bringing your life to a greater level of perfection. It is both a system of breathing, movement, diet and meditation and a way of life.Yoga classes provide an opportunity for those of all ages to improve their physical strength and stamina and to allow the mind to relax and release.

Yoga Breathing: helps to increase the amount of air One breathes in and can help improve aerobic fitness. It aids food digestion and peaceful relaxation.

Stretching: helps to limber up the body and to release stress from the body. Practicing stretches on a daily basis, and especially before and after exercise, helps the muscles to stay healthy.

Yoga Postures: there are over 8 million yoga postures! The postures are designed both to increase flexibility and to help to bring into balance the Chakras (or energy path) of the body, bringing greater health and balance

Yoga Nutrition: emphasises balanced eating and fresh food. Its central aim is to increase your physical energy and mental calmness. The Yoga diet is traditionally vegetarian.

Yoga Relaxation and Meditation: designed to help quiet the mind and allow peaceful relaxation and spiritual growth.

Both the spiritual and physical benefits of yoga should become a way of life. Guidance is offered so that students can incorporate yoga practices into their daily life.

What can yoga do for me?

Practiced regularly, yoga benefits all systems of the body. Benefits include increased strength, flexibility, and balance. It improves cardiovascular and digestive health. A regular, focused, practice may also improve concentration and relieve stress.

I am not flexible or strong. Can I still do this?

Absolutely! Yoga is for everyone. It is designed to be noncompetitive so you start by doing what you can. Yoga is not about being in the perfect pose. It’s about being in the perfect moment – whatever that may be for you. By practicing regularly at your own level, the benefits will come.
