What is Holistic Nutrition?

n a nutshell – Holistic Nutrition is the use of everyday nutrition and eating habits to improve one’s health. We take a holistic approach that addresses the body, the mind, the emotions, the heart, and the spirit.

The issue is, mainstream medicine can sometimes miss the fact that poor nutrition can be one of the major contributors to a wide range of health issues.  Most of us are aware that healthy food has many benefits for our health and well-being, however the volume and range of conflicting information in the media is often overwhelming and confusing.

Our bodies have a tremendous ability to heal, and Holistic Nutrition gives the body the food and energy it needs to attain and maintain optimal health!

What do Nutrition and Lifestyle Consultations Involve?

One learns how to eat whole, natural, nourishing foods, obtains sample meal plans for healthy eating and living, creates a vision for health, and receives coaching and accountability. Most importantly, we look at the factors that are contributing to keeping us stuck in old patterns of thought and behavior. We take an honest look at these underlying thoughts and beliefs, and then change them, which lays the groundwork for changing our behaviors around food, exercise and lifestyle. You will be given a toolbox with skills that address how to cope with stress, learning to take deep breaths, and calling upon the body’s natural healing abilities so that instead of turning to food, alcohol or other substances, you use your toolbox.

My goal is to make your necessary dietary and lifestyle changes practical. It can be hard to remove certain foods from our diets or incorporate daily healthy habits, even when we know its good for us. But when we are given practical tools to use, we can make the necessary lifestyle changes we need to live a vibrant and joyful life.

(I had to do this myself, I was skeptical, but it was easier than I had thought…and anybody that knows me can tell you how stubborn I am…).

Why Holistic Nutrition?

My favorite thing about holistic nutrition is the individual approach. No one is put into a box, regardless of their condition.

Each person must be treated differently and uniquely because we are all unique individuals. I may have similar symptoms as another person, but how I developed these symptoms and how I will heal is unique to me. We literally are what we eat, digest, and assimilate.

I focus on creating and maintaining a strong and healthy digestive system, as this is the core of a healthy body. Digestive issues (bloating, gas, pain, constipation, diarrhea, IBS, etc.) and bad eating habits can lead to eczema, seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, weight gain, immune issues, as well as many other issues.

Always remember that you are unique and never be allowed to be put into a box. Enjoy your journey to health and wellness.

Why a Whole Food Approach?

No matter how technically advanced we are, our digestive system hasn’t adapted as quickly. Just think about that.

We’ve developed blenders, refrigerators, and microwave ovens without really thinking about the consequences. Our stomach doesn’t know how to properly digest “blended” food that is swallowed without being chewed, and our bodies don’t know how to keep us healthy when we’re eating a processed food diet…even the “healthy” processed food products like protein bars and “probiotic” yogurt.

Eat more REAL food, not more food products.

The billion-dollar industry of marketing food products has made it very difficult to know what is healthy and what isn’t. Governments haven’t made it any easier by recommending a low-fat and low-salt diet, without looking at the real culprits in our diet: refined sugar and the processing of food. I’m constantly putting healthy fat and sea salt back into my client’s diets to help them find balance. A cookie cutter approach simply doesn’t work for most of us!

Our health is in decline and diseases caused by the average American diet (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.) are on the rise.

Whole foods are the key to health. Eat food your grandmother or your great-grandmother would recognize. Go back at least 60 years, to a time where Type II Diabetes was rare, and not seen in children like it is today.

What can a toxic diet and environment do to health?

  • Infertility/pregnancy complications
  • Weight gain, high blood pressure, high cholesterol
  • Fatigue, insomnia, and energy imbalances
  • Food (sugar) cravings
  • Physical/emotional pain (ex. fibromyalgia)
  • Nutrient deficiencies – “feeling depleted”
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Depression, anxiety, ADD, autism, and other mental health issues
  • Food allergies and sensitivities
  • Digestive problems (gas, constipation, bloating)
  • Weakened immunity and auto-immune conditions
  • Systemic inflammation and cancer
  • Susceptibility to further toxicity

Core Principles

When you treat your food as medicine (which it is!) the symptoms that cause you daily suffering begin to decrease and balance becomes restored in multiple areas of your life. I do not believe in diets but rather lifestyle changes that bring about true, lasting well-being


An adequate diet provides the human body with energy and nutrients for optimal growth, maintenance and repair of tissue, cells and organs.

Balance and Variety

A balanced diet includes foods containing sufficient amounts of each class of nutrients. Eating all the colors of the rainbow will ensure that there is variety in the diet.

Abundantly Conscious

The core principles of mindful eating include being aware of the nourishment available through the process of food preparation and consumption, choosing enjoyable and nutritious foods, acknowledging food preferences non-judgmentally, recognizing and honoring physical hunger and satiety cues, and using wisdom to guide eating decisions.

  • This plan is for you if ou’re looking for coaching, direction, and advice on your current lifestyle to improve your health today. While this session doesn’t offer us enough time to develop a customized in-depth plan, it’s the first step toward that. We’ll cover your questions about health, wellness, and nutrition while sharing my personal nutrition philosophy on lifestyle and how to live whole, eat well, and feel more amazing! This plan INCLUDES:
  • (1) 50 minute session via in person, online, or phone
  • Full nutrition and lifestyle assessment
  • Summary Email
  • Goal Sheets
  • Any materials that will help you take your next step to wellness.

The Journey

Single Follow Up Session
  • Not sure how many appointments you’ll need to reach your health goals? No problem! After your initial “Let’s Get Started” session, book single 45-minute appointments as you go. We can create exactly the program you need!

  • In each follow-up session, we will discuss how you’re doing overall, your symptoms, and how you’re feeling throughout this process.
